On July 3rd, local time in Iraq, the project acceptance team from the Secretariat of the Iraqi Cabinet conducted inspections on 11 demonstration schools in Muthanna Province. This was the third batch of handover projects among the 53 demonstration schools constructed by PowerChina Hubei Engineering Co., Ltd (HYPEC), with a total of 20 schools completing the inspections. Nazar Hatem Jalal, the head of the acceptance team for the project, signed the acceptance report and highly praised the high-quality performance of HYPEC. He noted that the high-standard delivery of these 20 schools set an example for subsequent contract performance, and injected new vitality into the local education.
As the first batch of projects under the plan of Iraq government to build 8,000 new schools by 2030, the Iraq Demonstration School Project is an important livelihood project built by China and Iraq under the Belt and Road Initiative, and is crucial to the development and revolution of the country's modern education. POWERCHINA will shoulder construction of 679 schools in 10 provinces in Central and South Iraq. Among them, HYPEC is responsible for the construction of 53 schools in Muthanna. These 20 schools is expected to accommodate 10,000 students at the same time.
Until now, 33 of the 53 schools that HYPEC has undertaken have been completed, while the remaining 20 schools are in the decoration stage. It is reported that the estimated time for the new campuses to be put into use is set for October 2024. By then, these schools will showcase HYPEC 's exceptional craftsmanship and quality as a constructor, bringing a brand new "modernized" schoolyard to the local community.
